Rules for Photography Competition

 

1.   Eligibility

• The competition is open to all SPS life and ordinary members.

• The competition is open to members of the photography groups that are endorsed by SPS.

 

2.   Category

• Street Photography*

• Travel Photography*

• Nature Photography*

• Open Category

3.   Frequency of competition

• The competition will be held quarterly, i.e. end March, June, September and December respectively.

• All photos must be submitted by the end of each quarter (March, June, September and December) respectively.

 

4.    Conditions of entry

• All photos must be taken with a DSLR or a mirrorless camera.

• The entrant must be the full owner of all rights of the submitted works.

• Photos can be taken during the SPS outings, locally or overseas but should not be more than two years ago.

• There are 4 categories namely Street, Travel, Nature and Open. If the entrant is unable to identify the nature of the photo submitted, he/she can submit such a photo under the open category.

• After selecting the photos, the entrant has to name the photo according to the category which he/she wants to upload.

  • For example, if the first selected photo belongs to street category, it has to be renamed as S001-0123 where S denotes the prefix for Street category, 001 refers to the serial number of the photo and 0123 are last 4 digits of the membership number. As for the Open category, please type Open001-0123. Please refer to the Sample Application Form as guidance.

• Each entrant is allowed to submit a maximum of 10 photos per competition/quarter, i.e. 2 categories totaling 10 photos or 4 categories totaling 10 photos.

• For submission by the members of a photography group, the liaison person of that group must submit the name list to SPS Competition IC via SPS email.

• Photos submitted should not have any watermark or symbol which the identity of the entrant can be ascertained.

• The photos to be submitted must be in JPEG format. The required maximum horizontal dimension is 1920 pixels and maximum vertical dimension is 1080 pixels, at 300dpi (maximum). The size of each image should not exceed 3MB.

 

5.   Others

• By submitting the entries, all entrants are deemed to have fully understood and accepted the competition rules and regulations set out herein.

• Should there be any dispute arising therefrom with regards to the Rules for Competition, the decision of SPS being the Organizer shall be final.

• Without prejudice to any other provision of the aforesaid Rules for Competition, SPS reserves the right to disqualify any entrant for failure to abide by any of the Rules set out herein, or for submitting false, inaccurate or incomplete information, or without any other reasonable cause for the violation, at its sole discretion, without first informing the entrant and without being liable in any way whatsoever for any loss, expense, cost, damages or otherwise suffered or incurred from such disqualification.
